So. Some fun stuff happened recently.
Thursday: Won against Manassas Park 5-0. Played about 40 min which was awesome. I megged a guy, it was pretty awesome. The real star of the show was malik tho, cause he burned like 4 defenders after being the last guy on the field off the bench.
Friday: Spring Variety Show. Probably messed up something but it was fun as hell to play on the stage. Something about playing music lets u blow off steam, it rocks.
My house is crazy looking now. All the second story roof trusses are up, along with most of the exterior walls. But the chimney hasnt been extended yet, so it comes halfway up the second story, lol. So lots of progress, which is suprising. Living in the city has been kinda hectic, and has been taking a big chunk outta my sleeping time. But watever. its all good.
Ok Im off to do some more history

Soccer game against Manassas Park tomorrow, should be a welcome rest from
SPRING VARIETY SHOW. Everyone should come. Hopefully,
Do we have clearance Clarence?
Yah. We’re only playing one song, but that’s remarkable cause we haven’t had any practice time whatsoever.

But yeah, this is my house as of yesterday. I went there today, and wats left of the porch and the deck has been completely removed, along with all the flooring in the attic and some of the interior walls. Apparently, the addition that was constructed by the previous owners was incredibly shoddy, all the wiring was messed up, and the fan in the bathroom didnt even connect to the outside, just the interior of the trusses. lol. Add that to all the bad exterior wiring and the crappy construction of the back part of the shed, and uve got some previous owners that were either dumb, "thrifty," or were getting gipped by the contractor.
Yea. so thats wats up. Its really boring here in the city, and the internet im "borrowing" wirelessly sucks. Annnnnnnd. There are alot of frickin rules in this building. haha.

Well, im sitting here in a sheraton right next to University of Pennsylvania. yay
Uhh. Today I visited Haverford and Swarthmore, and drove past Bryn Mawr. Skip the big paragraphs if you want to be lazy and get the sparknotes version. :)
Swarthmore - I really like the campus, the architechture is awesome, and the interiors of everything are aesthetic and stuff. The Engineering program looks solid, and unlike Carnegie Mellon, it doesnt look like you are forced to choose right away the specialization in which you wish to pursue within the field. Im going to have to see how a Swarthmore degree counts, if at all, and whether if its the graduate degree that really matters in the field. If it is the case, the admittance percentages of Swarthmore grads to MIT and other grad schools are in the 80's. If engineering doesnt work out, the liberal arts are incredibly solid at Swarthmore, and you can pretty much switch whenever you want. Although, I dont know if I want a liberal arts degree. Access to Philadelphia is easy, u just walk down to the end of the green and get on the light rail. The small town is interesting, but would easily get boring, at least u can get into philly, and its safe in the suburbs. The tri-college system is interesting, between Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore, and you can even take a class at U Penn.
Haverford - Uhh. Hmm. I dont think I liked Haverford as much as Swarthmore, just for the fact that it has, out of 700 pages in the course book, about a paragraph on Engineering. Everything else looks pretty spectacular, the architechture is equally, if not more interesting than swarthmore's. Also the Honor System is pretty cool with unproctored tests and stuff. The Engineering that is included seems ok, but I think its a huge risk. Im going to have to talk to some engineers about what they would recommend. But, at Haverford, You can take 3 years at the college, and then apply for a two year stay at CalTech. Now, if you make it in to CalTech, u get a Bachelors in Science Of Engineering, plus the degree you already have at Haverford. That, would be incredibly helpful. Its like, MIT caliber. But, it seems like it would be incredibly hard to get in. After all, it is nearly impossible to get into CalTech as a freshman, its gotta be harder to get in as a transfer.
Yea. If you didnt read all that. In my opinion Swarthmore > Haverford. Just because of the risks and the engineering programs. If it comes to liberal arts Swarthmore = Haverford. Figuring out all this stuff is hard. Basically, I have to decide what I want to be in the next few months.
In other news, My house is already being taken apart. Apparently, my porch is already gone. haha. Idk even where Im staying when I get back tomorrow.
Hopefully were going to see a bit of U Penn, and see Independence Hall and the Liberty bell and stuff, cause I've never been here before. Well, I've passed through on the train, and that was pretty depressing. Eh, whatever. I think if i decide I hate engineering, that I might want to study the economics and anthropological dynamics of urban areas. That mite be interesting.

yo
Well, so far spring break has been ok. It better pick up some.
From Friday -> Sunday, i was in Williamsburg and Newport News. Saw William and Mary on Friday. It was pretty cool, UVA's got nothing on it campus-wise. Then we drove to Newport News, and saw my sister compete in the Odyssey of the Mind state competition. Unfortunately, they didnt win, even though they got the highest score in spontaneous, and the winning team had professionally made props.
Drove home sunday morning. Annnnnnnd here I am. Trying to pack stuff.
Because...
Im moving. For Five Months, so that my house can have a second floor, and ooo so much more room. Yea, sorry i havent told people. I think Ive told graham and cbass, but we didnt know for a while if the contract was going to go through. So now its official, and Im gonna have to take the Metro to school. Yayyyyyy. At least I'll be closer to work.
Soooooo. This coming week Ill be heading up to MIT and Swarthmore, and possibly Carnagie Mellon, while my house is being torn apart. YAY!
Call me if you want to do stuff.

ughaaaa. this week sucks to high heaven.
tho, i got to see Yo-Yo Ma tonite. It was ok. Bach is definitely not my favorite composer, too bland, inexpressive, and formulaic. Suite #5 in C Minor for unaccompanied cello was pretty good. The other two pieces were from the same set of suites, 3 and 6, but they werent as good. Not anything Yo Yo Ma could have done about it, he probably performed it the best it could be performed. But i can say that his more oriental encores were exceptional.
so now on to RRL's. O wat fun.
I have to finish them by thursday, i havent started, and I have two games in a row on Wed. and Thurs.
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
O. Props to Graham for not getting thrown out of the VP race and winning.

I got to watch Good Night and Good Luck recently, and I think that the following quote, though articulated in another era, makes even more sense today with politics of fear, and the idea that you are not patriotic if you do not agree with the policies or actions of the government.
We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men— not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular. This is no time for men who oppose Senator McCarthy's methods to keep silent, or for those who approve. We can deny our heritage and our history, but we cannot escape responsibility for the result. There is no way for a citizen of a republic to abdicate his responsibilities. As a nation we have come into our full inheritance at a tender age. We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom, wherever it continues to exist in the world, but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.- CBS News Anchor Edward R. Murrow on See it Now, March 9th 1954
